Background: Jayne is a loud, obnoxious, crude, stupid man that Mal hired after Jayne and his gang were trying to rob Mal and Zoe. He is loyal to no one but himself and challenges everyone's authority. He hates Simon and River and even tried to turn them over to the Alliance (see "Ariel"). Despite that, he is the hero of a small mining town called Canton (see "Jaynestown") after he had to dump a load of cash to stay in the air after his robbing job went bad. When he and the crew return, he is treated like a celebrity, even after he tells the townsfolk the truth.
